Building Stronger Bonds Where Men Gather
“Connect helps strengthen, repair and rebuild the bonds between parents and their preteens and teens,” says Dr. Vicky Kelly, Executive Director of the Connect Parent Group Network. Caregivers participating in the program “feel more hopeful and effective” notes Kelly, while the involved youth experience fewer “struggles with conduct and emotional problems.”

“Barbershops are more than just a place for a cut, they’re a space for connection, healing, and brotherhood.”We partner with trusted local barbers to create safe, supportive spaces for men, especially fathers to gather, share, grow, and support one another through real conversations and community connection.
This program helps reduce isolation, strengthens father-child relationships, and fosters leadership and resilience in communities where it's needed most.

It’s been clarity for me getting around different men, different calibers, different walks of life, and what I’ve been experiencing my circumstances as a father, as a man I noticed that I’m not only going through the same similarities as others, but also those that been through the path that I’m going through are able to direct me through it. It’s been for me, I’d say on a scale of 1 to 10, it’s been a 10 that’s why I’m here this evening. I can’t get enough of it and I appreciate how you guys been continuing it.

...I truly thank the brothers for having this parenting class because once again, we are men. We are continuously developing but this is one area that we definitely need strength in because..we have to raise our children to be able to take care of themselves. The example that we leave on them is the example that will go on for generations.

Man, this touched me in such a way, I’m not a new father, I’ve been a father for quite sometime, actually I’m a grandfather. ....I’ve learned a lot throughout this program and how I look back, hindsight being 20/20 I saw some of the mistakes that I’ve made in my parenting as a young father. So I’m glad that I was here to assist some of these young brothers....This class is very informative, I think it should be a community-based program. If you’re a father or not a father you still should attend such a program because you can assist someone else that might be in your circle or family that is a father.
